Radiology Nurses Related Problem
Introduction
Most nursing staff in medical facilities are exposed to radiations in the operating rooms, this, in turn, exposes them to risks associated with the radiation. However, in most hospitals or healthcare centers, the nurses are not protected or not paid higher salaries since they are exposed to high risks.
The purpose of the study is to establish reasons as to why the nurses or the nursing staffs are exposed to radiations in the operating rooms, for instance, the Surgical Centers (SC). Exposure to emissions has been one of the risks encountered in a medical setup. However, the nurses should take caution since the radiations may result in disorders such as tumors of skin, lungs or male infertility. Most nursing staff ought to wear protective gear or regulate the emissions during operation. Nurses in some hospitals, more so, the public are not protected. The machines used may have been worthless or requires maintenance. Operating a fault device exposes the user to high risks of radiation; this, in turn, may adversely affect the user. Individuals working in the surgical centers need to be paid higher salaries due to the risk they encounter during work (Querido, 2015).
The patients need to be treated. However, the nurses’ welfare regarding the risk they are exposed is not catered. Use of radiations to treat or detect diseases in a hospital or medical facility seems advancement. Conversely, the emissions need to be used correctly under safe conditions as this ensures the safety of the medical professionals, the patient and the environment at large. Hospitals need to cater for the welfare of the nurses as some radiations are hazardous to one’s health hence may shorten the lifetime of the nurses and development of health complications.
